| Are y'all aware of this throwdown from the Rational Response squad? They are giving away free copies of The God Who Wasn't There to anyone who publicallly denies the Holy Spirit in a Youtube video. My first reaction was that it was a juvenile stunt and too much designed simply to insult believers. On the other hand, it has gotten some press coverage and therefore maybe it is a worthwhile effort just to raise the level of awareness of the general population as to the existence of actual non believers in the population. |

My first reaction was like yours that this was a juvenile publicity stunt (and I guess it still is). However the response and reactions have somehow raised the level of the thing to something a bit more than that. People are interested for some reason. I'll have to see how I feel about it later.
In the mean time it's also drawn the attention of the robots...

I respect Brian Flemming and realize partly why he asks for this. I have yet to find a xian that will give up their seat in heaven for me. That on judgement day they will say no thanks, TXatheist can live forever in paradise and I choose eternal torture. It still says to me the one true motivation for xianity is selfishness with the desire of heaven.

| TX, for what it's worth, I would switch places with you. I don't think it works that way, but I would be willing. |

On a lark I made a response too and added my own challenge as a twist to it. I categorized mine under comedy because this whole thing is kinda silly.

David,
I watched your video right after I saw mine up there and thought that challenge was quite interesting. I knew about the challenge of handling snakes but forgot all about the poison consumption challenge. Good video and it's nice to put a face with the forum poster.
Have you requested the DVD and have you already seen it? |

TX,
I saw your video too... it's only a few away from mine. Since I supposedly committed an unpardonable sin I might as well get the video. I'll probably pop it in and take a look if it comes but it wouldn't be something I'd rent or otherwise go out of my way to see. |

| And Stephan, that puts you ahead of a god that would create a hell system in my view. |

David, I love your challenge. No, I won't take you up on it, but it is intriguing.
Actually, I don't consider myself better than God. In fact, I believe God already changed places with you so I won't have to, and you don't have to face eternity in Hell. I think this is the crux of the Gospel. Jesus became human and suffered the punishment for all of us, including going to Hell and conquering death. He took the ultimate responsibility for our actions.
David and TX, I felt I know you a little better after seeing you on video. Maybe I'll post a few things on YouTube so we can all get to know each other better.
It's not video, but you can hear me sing! The band I used to play with has some songs posted on their web site. I wrote "These Things I Do" and sing lead on it. I sing background on most of the other songs. You can find them at http://www.runwithitmusic.org/RunWithIt/songs.html. |

Hey wow, nice song Stephan! I don't know anything about music but that was good... you can sing, nice hook, kinda had a bit of Doors or Moody Blues retro sound with the organ too.
In my video I'm talking very tongue-in-cheek though I don't know if that comes across. What does come across is I've gained a lot of weight since my daughter was born |

Hey, nice to see you, David S and TXatheist, and hear you, Stephan!
David S - I hope nobody takes you up on the Drano challenge. That would be stupid of them, but tragic. (The 'tongue in cheek' aspect wasn't crystal clear to me as I watched your clip.)
These were interesting:
Endchristmas.com
Local NBC news story on the Blasphemy Challenge (southern CA)
Also, it's interesting (but not a total surprise) that by far most of the clips are by men. |

| This seems like a former Christian thing. I find it very former religiously biased. |
